HARI President and CEO Ma. Fe Perez Agudo was a mentor for the day at the Go Negosyo-DTI Mentor Me on Wheels held last August 24, 2018 at The Block, SM City North EDSA in Quezon City.
Last August 24, 2018, Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. President and CEO Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo threw Hyundai’s support behind the “Mentor Me on Wheels” program of Go Negosyo and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
Ms. Agudo joined Go Negosyo founder and Presidential Advisor for Entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion and other mentors on the seventh leg of the mobile mentorship program held at The Block Atrium, Quezon City.
Under the “Mentor Me on Wheels” program, Go Negosyo and DTI bring micro and small business owners face to face with experienced entrepreneur-mentors from a broad range of industries and backgrounds. The mentors, through 20 to 30-minute one-on-one sessions, offer advice on adopting the right mindset for business and on marketing their products and services effectively.
In her remarks to the gathered entrepreneurs and established mentors, Ms. Agudo talked about what it meant to a Filipino entrepreneur: “Ang negosyanteng Pinoy, dapat may yabang! Dapat may tiwala sa sarili na iyong produkto or serbisyo ay puwedeng ipagmalaki sa buong mundo!”
[The Filipino entrepreneur should have confidence! They should believe in themselves and that their product or service is something they should be proud of!]
Ms. Agudo, herself an advocate of entrepreneurship, encouraged the business owners she mentored to embrace digital platforms like social media.
“We live in a digital age,” she said. “Taking advantage of the reach and access that digital platforms afford businesses today is a crucial tool for entrepreneurship. The internet has the potential to showcase your product to the widest range of customers, as well as provide the networks and lessons you need to grow your business.”
Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte welcomed the participants, noting that the number of registered businesses in the city have grown in recent years. She outlined Quezon City’s thrust of improving the business environment for micro, small, and medium enterprises, as well as for social enterprises.
