Hyundai Rally Team impresses in Corporate Rally Challenge

088

Guess who’s back with a vengeance?

After a hiatus from corporate motorsports, Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI) in collaboration with Team Hyundai Philippines (THP) showcased their accurate driving skills in the 2017 STV Auto Rally Corporate Challenge (ARCC) last May. The “On Time, All the Time” rally was flagged off at the Harbor Point Mall in Subic Bay, Zambales.

Proving that HARI and THP are motorsport ready, the Hyundai rally contingent brought home notable recognitions, namely, 2 zero demerits and 2 closest time runs during the grueling 3-hour rally covering 14 checkpoints from Subic Bay up to Mt. Samat in Bataan.

Ray Yamashita of Team Accent Philippines tempered the Veloster’s 1.6 T-Gdi GLS turbo with Curl David (after sales) and Mel Fernandez (marketing). Testing torque and acceleration in the Tucson CRDi GLS 6AT 2WD is Karlo Suban (THP) with Lito Refraccion (after sales) and Ernest Loquinario (marketing). Piloting the Elantra 1.6 GL 6AT is Ryan Ablang (THP) with Butch Angeles (training), Christian Fernandez (after sales).

For this year's ARCC, the Corporate Rally Teams from Audi, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Isuzu, Lexus, MINI, Nissan, Ssangyong, Subaru, and Tata came to compete and showcase their flashiest brand new models.

The team certainly learned a few lessons in Subic that will be remembered moving forward. One thing’s for sure, Hyundai will gun for podium finishes in next year’s rally.
