In its advocacy to empower the Filipino youth through sports, Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI) supports The Younghusband Football Academy (TYFA) by donating the Hyundai-TYFA Sports Van (right photo), a Hyundai H-100 vehicle that brothers Phil and James Younghusband designed to accommodate the convenient transport of the Academy’s football gear and other educational material to the provinces, as well as to bring young football enthusiasts to the designated football clinic venues. The Sports Van was officially turned over to TYFA during the Second Hyundai RUN last April 29, 2012. HARI VIPs (L-R) Chairman Emeritus Richard L. Lee, Chairman Edward S. Go, and President and CEO Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo turned over the Hyundai-Younghusband Sports Van to The Younghusband Football Academy (TYFA) led by Executive Director Cathy Nazareno-Rivilla (center), President Phil Younghusband (standing, 3rd from R) and Vice President James Younghusband (standing, 2nd from R) during the Second Hyundai RUN for a Cause held April 29, 2012 at the Quirino Grandstand. The Sports Van will help TYFA, a travelling football academy, conduct football clinics for public school students and PE teachers in various parts of the country.

Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), official distributor of Hyundai in the Philippines and The Younghusband Football Academy (TYFA), launched the Hyundai-TYFA Football Sports Development Campaign. As one of HARI’s newest corporate social responsibility (CSR) endeavors, this partnership is in line with HARI’s advocacy of youth empowerment through sports. For the past years, HARI has supported several football events through its Next Generation Football Camp program.

This year, HARI will further this advocacy through the donation of the Hyundai-Younghusband Sports Van, a Hyundai H-100 van that was personally designed by Phil and James Younghusband. It was turned over to TYFA last April 29, 2012 during the Second Hyundai RUN for a Cause.

The Sports Van will help TYFA conduct football clinics for public school students and PE teachers in various parts of the country. According to TYFA Executive Director Cathy Nazareno-Rivilla, “It’s really a long-term program wherein we want to extend football to as many communities. We have already gone around Metro Manila, La Union, Tarlac, Palawan and Bacolod and hope that through this van donation, we can visit even more provinces!” Brothers Phil and James Younghusband designed the donated Hyundai H-100 to accommodate the easy transport of the Academy’s football gear and other educational material to the provinces, as well as bring participants living in far-flung areas to the designated football clinic venues.

This year, the Academy aims to train and increase the number of young football enthusiasts in the country and eventually develop world-class Filipino players. “We are looking forward to this partnership with Hyundai to make football more popular in the Philippines by providing the support that is essential for the Academy to work,” said TYFA President Phil Younghusband.  TYFA Vice President James Younghusband also affirmed, “As a travelling football academy, we would like to reach out to farther places. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank Hyundai for all the support. It’s something we’ve really needed for a long time. This will help further our program by transporting our equipment and bringing people to our different training venues. I think I should get the Genesis for my next car!”
