Hyundai I-Oniq Headlines The Future Of Motoring At iCON

Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI) provides a glimpse of the future of mobility by exhibiting for the first time on our shores the latest Hyundai European concept car, i-oniq, at the ICON “Innovations in Mobility Expo,” which will run from April 5-7, 2013 at the ICON Tent in Bonifacio Global City.

Themed “Action Towards Viable Innovation for Development,” ICON, the Innovation Congress, is the third Thought Leadership Forum (TLF) of the Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors (AVID) in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

The ICON Forum, slated for April 5, will tackle global trends in innovation. The Expo, which immediately follows the Forum, will translate the dialogues on innovation to an actual glimpse of the future of mobility in the Philippines via an exhibit of AVID members’ newest car models and the DOST’s current projects in developing smart mass transport systems.

As a lead member company of AVID, HARI will showcase a concept car that embodies the newest evolution of Hyundai’s design philosophy, “Fluidic Sculpture.” The i-oniq, which was developed at the Hyundai European R&D Center in Germany, combines two key words, “ion” and “unique” to augur the look of future sports coupés. This electric sports hatchback marries gentle feature lines with a muscular surface. Adding to the appealing body are doors that open up to the side; a “penthouse roof” that creates much room for rear passengers; impressive user-interface components that reflect contemporary and future consumer electronics; an innovative 1,0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that generates a maximum of 45 kW (61 ps) that is mated to an 80 kW (109 ps) lithium-ion electric motor powered by a 55 kW generator. On electric mode alone, the i-oniq can travel 120 kilometers and up to 700 kilometers with the assistance of the fuel petrol engine, and emit only 45 g/km of CO2. At top speed, it can run a maximum of 145 km/h.

Experience the i-oniq up close at ICON on April 5-7, 2013 the ICON tent on 32nd Avenue cor. 9th St., Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City. Admission to all ICON events is free.
