Hyundai Elantra: Philippine 2012 Car of the Yea

With all the awards and recognitions garnered in only a year after the launch of all new Hyundai Elantra at the 2011 Manila International Autoshow, another milestone is added to its esteemed list: the 2012 Philippine Car of the Year.  Announced on the evening of March 29, 2012 during a special awarding ceremony at the Philippine Trade Training Center in Pasay City, the Hyundai Elantra took the prestigious title presented by the Car Awards Group Inc. (CAGI). 

“This is indeed the year of the Elantra.  This award, together with the COTY awards from North America, Canada and South Africa, is proof of Hyundai’s commitment to consistently seek and deliver the lifestyle and motoring needs of our growing number of customers,” said Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. President, Ms. Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo as she proudly accepted the award.

Competing with the best of the best in the local automotive scene, 2012 Elantra continues to show its world dominance in the global auto arena with this victory on the Philippine shores.

 

Now on the 8th year of The Car of the Year awards, CAGI,  a non-stock, non-profit organization composed of more than 50 motoring journalists from various print, broadcast, and online media outlets, annually searches for the country's best on four wheels.  All entrants were subjected to a stringent scrutiny in both qualitative and technical aspects.  The “look” and “feel,” of each vehicle were subjectively judged by each CAGI member's extensive experience in the field and at the same time, harsh technical tests were also conducted to determine the best acceleration, braking, slalom and handling performance of each vehicle

Passengers get an extra sense of freedom and convenience with more space inside the 2012 Elantra and features like its stunning Integrated Entertainment System, tailor-furnished seats, and fully digitized information display for convenient reading on every journey.

And aside from its looks, the 2012 Elantra is also thoughtful in active safety features, helping you prevent accidents such as the Anti-locking Brake System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Dual Front SRS Airbags equipped in the 1.6L A/T and 1.8L Elantra models.  Its responsive 6-speed transmission (in Manual and Automatic) allow smooth gearshifts that help reduce engine load.  The Elantra’s body is built to be tough with its ultra-high tensile steel reinforcements that help enhance the car’s stability and reduce occupant injury during crash situations.
