HARI Foundation (HFI)-DOST revitalize ties

HARI Foundation, Inc. (HFI), the corporate social responsibility arm of Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), sustains its dynamic partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in their shared advocacy for education in environmental stewardship with DOST agency, the Philippine Council for Agriculture and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD).

 

HFI and DOST-PCAARRD jump start their partnership with a coral reforestation project dubbed the “Hyundai-PCAARRD Coral Garden” in Boracay Island. The activity is part of HARI’s test drive of the Hyundai All-New Tucson, participated in by local and foreign media held August 19-22.

 

“We want to reaffirm that Hyundai is a brand that cares for the environment. We initiated the coral reforestation project aligned with the national agenda to save the marine ecosystem, as well as to support eco-tourism in Boracay, dubbed as one of the most beautiful island paradises in the world,” said HFI President Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo

 

Ms. Agudo also expressed delight about having local and foreign media participating in the activity, dubbing them as educators and information-sharers who can effectively spread the word about the urgent need to build a truly climate change resilient Philippines.

 

The public-private partnership of HFI and DOST kicked off in 2014 with the launching of the Hyundai New Thinkers Circuit (HNTC), envisioned to tap the potential of top students from selected public science high schools to take the lead in driving innovation for a more climate-change resilient nation. Year 1 of HNTC saw HFI partner with DOST’s Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI).
