A World All Its Own Hyundai presents a Wonderful World of Innovations via its first-ever 3D Concept Show

World Trade Center Manila, August 19, 2010—Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), the authorized distributor of Hyundai automobiles in the Philippines, made an audacious arrival at the 3rd Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), as it ushered in a world of breakthrough, fuel-efficient, and eco-friendly Innovations for Humanity.  Titled “The Wonderful World of Hyundai,” the exhibit of HARI at this year’s PIMS brought to fore Hyundai’s pursuit of environmental leadership through technologies that push frontiers in mobility and an eco-driven approach to responsible automaking.

 

Engaging the Filipino motoring community further, Hyundai not only showcased its best-of-breed automobiles, but brought around 700 guests and well-wishers to an entirely different dimension and spectacular environment that captured the beauty of nature and technology in one awe-inspiring space.  Taking another bold step further in presenting its roster of class-leading vehicles, Hyundai launched its first-ever 3D concept show at the PIMS and the country’s first real augmented reality (AR) and 3D show complete with 3D cyan glasses, which evoked a richly high technology, 3D-theater ambience and experience. 

 

Following an inspiring keynote message from Ms. Fe Perez-Agudo, President and CEO of HARI, The Wonderful World of Hyundai came to life with a 3D audio-visual presentation of Hyundai’s environmental strides, captured in the heartwarming song, “What A Wonderful World.”  What complimented its magnificent digital environment further was the grand ensemble of performers that graced Hyundai’s wonderful world:  prima ballerina Lisa Macuja-Elizalde and Ballet Manila, young singing sensation Charlie Green, and world-class singer Lea Salonga, with soul-stirring music from the Filharmonica, conducted by no less than maestro Gerard Salonga.  With a spellbinding environment inspired by Pandora from James Cameron’s movie Avatar and an awesome production number by exceptionally talented Filipino artists, HARI’s exhibit captured an image of an ecosystem from an advanced civilization, truly a symbol of Hyundai’s vision of a new world that fuses together the beauty of nature and the wonders of automotive technology.

 

Present to witness The Wonderful World of Hyundai unfold during the 3rd PIMS were no less than avant-garde leader Mr. Steve Yang, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, His Excellency, Mr. Lee Hye-Min, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, and HARI’s top honchos, namely Mr. Richard Lee, Chairman Emeritus of HARI, Mr. Edward Go, Chairman of HARI, and Mr. Conrad Marty, Vice Chairman of HARI.

Straight from the showroom, Hyundai’s best-of-breed technologies:  the all-new Sonata, Grand Starex Limousine, Tucson, Santa Fe, and Genesis Coupe, took the spotlights of the World Trade Center on HARI’s display.  Putting  the  exclamation point at the Hyundai display was the ix-Metro Hybrid Electric Crossover Utility Vehicle, the fifth prototype car of the Hyundai Namyang Design (HND) series, further highlighting the infinite possibilities that Hyundai continues to explore in its pursuit of advancing mobility and putting harmony in the existence of man, machine, and the world. 

 

Truly, everything in the presentation was a translation of Hyundai’s devotion to bringing its eco-environmental activities to fruition.  But more than just interplaying amazing 3D visuals and live musical performances, The  Wonderful  World  of  Hyundai  aims  to  invite  all  Filipino drivers to participate in its global campaign to prove that nature and automotive technology can coexist together as long as humans observe responsible consumerism, manufacturing, and other eco-driven automotive activities.

 

The ix-Metro: Another promising vision in the future of mobility

Sci-fi and space-inspired, the ix-Metro, codenamed HND-5, is a stunning resemblance of an extraterrestrial life form protected by a compact, robotic shell-armor and technology-infused survival instincts.

More than its sci-fi and extraterrestrial appeal, this HND-5 hides within its shell an eco-friendly, hybridized, electric powerhouse. Its performance benefits with a maximum 92kW of power @ 6000rpm and a peak torque of 16.0kg-m between 1750-4500rpm.  Its 1-liter, Dual CVVT enhanced with turbocharging and direct-injection capacities, is designed for fuel flexibility and efficient boost of power.  While the ix-Metro’s dual-clutch gearbox commands over acceleration through 6-forward, automatic gear modes, the en suite ultracapacitor (Electric Double Layer) and 12V battery help supply power to the starter motor-alternator that delivers up to 5kW of torque assistance to secure driving precision. This concept car strives for the lowest CO2 emissions possible, at just 80g/km; and as for fuel consumption, its efficiency is rated at 3.3-liter/100km.
